Last night was the first night sleeping with a cast, and can I just say "I HATE IT!" I am not a back sleeper! I love sleeping on my side and stomach! Ugh! I'm hoping and praying that going with the cast versus the shoe or boot will pay off in the end and I won't have to wear the cast as long as I would have the shoe or boot...and I'm happy that I listened to my body and stayed off of my foot/didn't try walking on it. If this is all over July 3rd you can bet I'll be celebrating over the 4th of July!! Fingers Crossed!
My next challenge will be showering with this thing on and keeping it dry!
And yes, this is my 1st official broken bone, and I'm 31 years old! I'm pretty sure I broke a toe back in 2002, but I never went to the dr.
3 breaks at once! Go hard or go home!

(Father's Day) Weekend Recap
We started the weekend on Thursday with a wedding!
We decided to go ahead and just go down to the courthouse and get hitched Thursday morning. We had planned to have a ceremony the end of August, but it takes approx. 2 weeks to get the wedding license back and we will be gone before then on recruiting duty. So, why not on 6-13-13? Our 1yr anniversary will be on Friday the 13th! Good thing I'm not superstitious! That evening a friend watched the kiddos for us so we could go out to dinner. We went down to San Diego to Humprey's. It was beautiful!
We had a gorgeous view.....
Had some delish calamari-
Along with some prime rib, mashed potatoes, fresh roasted green beans and carrots. The salad came with a wonderful Macadamia Nut Dressing.
Found a new drink that I LOVE-
Its called "Devil Wears a Blue Dress" and tastes like blueberry!!
Then Friday reality hit! LOL!
We made a trip to the ER to have my foot looked at....
X-rays showed 2 fractures in the 5th metatarsal! WHAT!?
The Dr scheduled me an apt with Ortho for first thing Monday morning and sent me home in an ugly ass hard soled shoe.
That shoe was just WAY too ugly..so D and I added some bling....
Saturday we did some grocery shopping at the Commissary and made a trip to Costco....nothing too exciting unless you count riding around on the motorized wheel chair with 2 kids on my lap!
Sunday was Father's Day-
We started out the day by showering Daddy with gifts! We got a new bbq set for the grill and a picture of him, his dad and both of the kids (from our trip to lake Tahoe back in November to see his folks for Thanksgiving) and I added a cute little saying to it, "DAD: a son's first HERO, a Daughter's first LOVE." And yes we got him some chap stick-its red velvet cupcake flavored! and he loves red velvet cake! Its tastes pretty amazing!
After we got around we took Dad out to breakfast. He wanted a breakfast burrito so off to Angelo's we went....
We all stuffed our faces! It was soo good!!
Then we made a trip to Lowe's for some brackets so that Daddy could hang a small bookcase.
I did my part by supervising while I iced my foot and got a short little nap in...lol! We tested out the brackets by Dad standing on them, so we know it won't come out of the wall if the kids end up pulling on it or trying to climb on it. He did good! It turned out great!
Monday morning I found out there are actually 3 fractures in my foot, not just 2 like they thought Friday night at the ER!! Dr gave me a couple of choices, the shoe I was already in, a boot or a cast. He recommended the cast, so that's what I went with...
Next apt is in 2 weeks...Doc is hoping its healing like it should so he can take the cast off just in time for the 4th of July holiday weekend! Then that weekend we have a 2nd birthday party to go to for our friends' daughter...at the same house where I initially got hurt! EEK!! Maybe I can find me a big ole bubble to wrap myself up in before we go over there! Ha!
Have a great week!!

Weekend/Week (so far) Recap
I wrote this Monday morning, but it never got posted, so I updated it this morning with this week's events so far...and its a little long.....Sorry....
Summer is officially here! My soon-to-be Bonus Daughter & Son had their graduations Thursday and Friday and are now officially a 1st grader and a K'er! They got here Friday evening and will be here for a whole month!! (Still hoping my foot heals soon so I'm able to do fun stuff with them!)
They came with all of this! Why you ask? Because they both have generalized seizures and the boy is allergic to nine-billion different things (trees, grass, cats just to name a few.) And he was just in the Hospital for 3 days with a racing heart and a small case of pneumonia.

Poor kiddos. My heart breaks for them knowing they have to take all of this medicine, and most of it 2x a day! Ugh!!
Saturday came and we had no plans. Just a casual day relaxing at home. That changed when some friends invited us over for dinner. So we got ready and headed over. You'd think no big deal, right? But keep in mind, this is the same house I hurt my foot at 2 weeks prior...Dinner was good. We had beef and fish tacos out on the patio. It was a beautiful evening. The guys hung a new tv in the living room and a shelf and got it all set up. Then after dinner they headed up stairs to hang another tv and do a bit of rearranging. Everyone was upstairs so I thought I'd join them...after falling UP the stairs 3 times I finally made it to the top. Hung out for a bit and was social. After a while I went back down so I could put my foot up. Made it down the stairs just fine, thank God! About 1230am we were finally walking out the door. (Yes, the children were still up...I know, HORRIBLE PARENTS! But it was Saturday night, and they were busy playing. They can sleep in the next morning....) Got out to the car, put the crutches in, hopped to the back of the car to give hugs and say our good byes. Was hopping back to get in the car and my flip flop got twisted under my foot and I tripped, put my hurt foot down to catch myself, that foot gave out and I fell flat on my hands and knees. So now I have a bruised foot and 2 bruised knees. I'm one big HOT MESS right now!! I'm over it!! Anyways, needless to say after we got home I was just a ball of tears. I'd cry, I'd stop. I'd cry, I'd stop. Josh was over THAT! So I sucked it up and got some sleep.
Sunday was better. Made a trip to the commissary and then took a drive down by the beach and took in a beautiful sunset.....
I love SoCal...I love the sunsets over the ocean...
Monday was the first full day of being home all day with the kiddos! I managed to get them to the park and let them play for a couple of hours. Dad had duty, so he wasn't home Monday night. The kiddos and I cooked dinner and took to him so they could see him for a few min that evening.
This was the view from his work...once again, CAN NOT GET ENOUGH of the GORGEOUS SoCal sunsets!!
He ate and then we had a mini dance party in the car. The kiddos and I may have been rocking out on the way to see daddy, so they were a bit hyper and when they saw their daddy it escalated...lol! Fun times! Then it was home for ice cream and a game of Operation before bed.
Tuesday was laundry day...we went to the laundry mat out in town because we had 2 hampers over flowing. I have not been able to do any laundry since I got hurt, and Josh has only done 1 load a week since then on Sundays...his cammies, socks, shirts, ect...whatever we need for the week...so instead of doing 8 or more loads, we got it done in 3! Gotta love the oversized washers at the laundry mat!!
Last night the little guy noticed my engagement ring while we were baking some Blueberry Muffins. He said "I like your ring, Christina." I replied "Thank you. Daddy got it for me." He then looked up at his daddy and said "Thank you for getting Christina her ring. Its beautiful!" Awww...I melted....
So we thought that was the perfect time to talk to the kids about us getting married. I asked them if it was ok if their daddy and I got married. The little guy piped up with "Yes! Then you will kiss! Christina will be the princess and you will be the prince, daddy!" And the lil' princess got a smile on her face and shook her head yes. So we told them that we would be getting married and I would then be their "Bonus Mom." They thought that was pretty cool! Whew! It went well!! I was a little nervous to bring it up. Not sure why though, I've known the kids for half of their lives already....
The kiddos requested mini pancakes for breakfast today...so that's what they will get. I better get my butt to the kitchen..its already 830 so I'm sure they'll be up before long! After that it's off to run some errands...Lot's going on tomorrow! So stay tuned!!
HAPPY HUMP DAY!!

National Running Day
It's National Running Day!!! Make sure to get out there and run today! I would, except I'm stuck here on the couch and hobbling around on crutches for the 10th day. Its getting real old, real quick!
Since it's National Running Day, I thought I'd share with y'all how I got into running.....and let me warn you, this is going to get REAL personal!
It all started in 7th grade when I was a manager for the track team. I was in charge of keeping stats and the team organized...(I guess my organizational skills/OCD stems back further than I realized until I started writing this today.) Often I would run for fun with the team during practice on long runs and sprints. I didn't go out for track because I didn't know I could run, I thought I was too slow and didn't want to always be last! But to my amazement, I found myself keeping up with several people and beating many others!! I told myself the following year I would run. And I did. In 8th grade I ran the 2mile, 1mile, 1/2mile and was part of the Medley Relay. My 1mile run PR was 6:30! I was damn proud of that!! Today, I cant beat a 9:30min mile! What I would give to be able to run a 6:30min mile again!! Actually, what I should be saying today is "What I would give to be able to walk without these damn crutches....!" After middle school I didn't do much long distance running. In High School (HS) I played volleyball, tennis and softball and was the boys basketball manager my freshman year. With these sports we did more sprinting than anything...which I suck at! My long ole legs just don't move fast enough for sprints. (I'm 5'9'') During long runs I feel best after the 1st 1/2 mile....
Anyways, after HS I went on to college on a softball scholarship, hurt my knee and didn't get to play, yada yada.....weird thing is this is what happened to both of my brothers as well! Yes, all 3 of us went to college to play ball and ended up hurt and didn't get to play...what are the odds of that!? That was 2000-2001.
Jump forward to April 2010. I started going to the gym M-F for about and hour and a half each day. I would jump on the treadmill for at least half an hour and then do some weight training. Running was relaxing. It was my way of releasing built up tension and anger and staying sane. This continued for about 6-7months. Then I moved again and eventually got back into the gym at the apt complex. The following summer (2012) Josh convinced me to start running outside instead of on the treadmill. It was hard! It was so much different than running on the treadmill. I had forgotten what it was like, with hills and stoplights and cars! I had come across a "Pin" on Pinterest that took me to a blog about a lady who had used Couch25K to start running. At the same time I had a friend on facebook that I would see posting her runs and she was using the same app. So I downloaded it to my phone and took off for a run following the program. I wanted to be able to run 3 miles without walking and my lungs being on fire! I found the program was a little slow for me. I could run a lot longer than it told me to. So I just kinda made my own program and listened to my body. I would stop and walk for 30-60seconds and then start running again. It worked, before I knew it I would run a full 3 miles w/out stopping!!
Then one day I decided I wanted to run a half marathon some day! So I started upping my miles. I was running every day M-F. Then I switched it up to M, W, Th and long run on Saturdays so my body could give my body some rest. I noticed during this time when I would run more than 3 miles I would be running to the bathroom when I got home from my run with the runs! (I told you it was going to get REAL!) After researching, I found out that this was COMPLETLEY normal! In fact, many people aren't able to get home before they go and end up sh!tting their pants! At least I could wait till I got home. I was happy with that! And after more research, I found it was recommended no milk/dairy before long runs. So I gave up milk & cheese after lunch the day before long runs. And guess what!? It worked! No more upset tummy when I got home from my runs! So far to this day my longest run has been 6 miles...and after the 1st time I passed out when I got home. Literally passed out! I had never experienced anything like that before! Scared the sh!t out of me! The 2nd time I almost passed out a block from my apt! I guess I need to eat more than just a slice of toast with peanut butter and carry a water bottle with me.
Today as I sit here reminiscing on when and where I started with my running, it really saddens me that I can't be out there celebrating National Running Day with my fellow runners.

My Very 1st Posting!
Well, after many hours spent thinking and contemplating starting a blog, I finally did it, with the help of my friend Rebecca over at Poisoned Perception! Thank you soo very much Rebecca for your patience and understanding while I slowly get the hang of this!! And while helping me, she decided to get back into blogging after taking a bit of a break from it! So go check her out!!
Anyways, today I sit here, my 5th day, on the couch with my foot elevated and icing! Sunday I hurt it, and No, alcohol was not involved, but it sure was after!! I think I managed to drink a whole bottle of wine...and still had pain! Come to find out today a friend of mine back home hurt her foot and it sounds like we have done the same thing...the doctor told her she pulled some ligaments and chipped a bone...I have not been to the doctor yet...I'm hoping for the best because I CANNOT take this much longer. Being pretty much immobile is driving me nuts, literally! For example, I hopped into the kitchen a bit a go to put a cup in the sink and put a couple of dishes away. While putting a pan in its place, I found ants running around the cabinet like they owned it!! Uh, excuse me!! GTFO!!! When I saw them I broke into tears..We're talking snot running out of my nose and everything!! Why!? Because the ants are known to be bad here during the summer months and I wanted to spray the apartment earlier this week, but I've been stuck on the couch with frozen peas on my foot, so it hasn't gotten done. Also, I typically sweep the hardwood floors at least every other day, if not more often...and mop at least 2 times...I might have a vigorous cleaning schedule...OCD??? So, I'm just a bit frustrated because I know that I could have prevented these pesky little things from invading our home if I wasn't hurt. I managed to clear out the cabinet and put everything on the counter and spray the cupboard down...I drenched it!!!

I did all of this on one foot, mind you! My hip was hurting by the time I was done...so bad that I hobbled down the hall to our bedroom and dropped on the bed and cried some more. After about 5 minutes I told my self to get up, suck it up and quit feeling sorry for myself-because that's what I've been doing, feeling sorry for myself. And frustrated!! I'm going to keep positive this weekend and hope that it's better by Monday, to where I can at least put a little pressure on it and walk without crutches. I'd be happy to have a limp!
